Spike Bahermez is an experimental performance artist, writer and educator from Abu Dhabi, UAE residing in Chicago, IL. A Fulbright scholar, they hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from New York University and a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre from Towson University.
They are deeply dedicated to creating performance and constructing live images that unearth the taboo. Their performances become the open space to play with mythologies and tell narratives of diaspora, displacement and socio-political injustices. Stories of their people, their peers and citizens around the world that shake them to their core. They enter the space of creation from a place of respect and regard. Asking questions and investigating the links between identity, space and social relations.
